Project 1: Open Rectangular Containers for Meals

To solve the Lunch Box project we were to use many of the objectives that we learned in class. We started by understanding how to achieve the area for the volume of a box. Which is length x width x height. To figure this out we had to write an inequality, later making it set to be greater or equal to an amount. With the inequality were able to use the rational zeros theorem to determine all of the possible zeros. Afterward we used synthetic division to find the zero that factored completely with the remainder of zero. The last step in the project was to state what the x values were if the volume was at least 37 ½ cubic inches. For me, this was a difficult and time consuming project. I do think it was a great review of what we have learned in class, however, as for how I would use these concepts in my future career I have absolutely no idea. I am going into business so I guess this would come in handy if I ever ended up needing to build something? Maybe? There are times now that I have to set up algebraic equations in order to find my answers, but I don’t necessarily see it becoming complicated enough to require polynomials to achieve my end result.
